OpenTTD in browser: pelya's webapp
pelya's OpenTTD browser build loaded its menu, generated a default 256 by 256 map and responded to zoom-in. Transport construction, saving, multiplayer and mobile play remain unverified.

Basis: project instructions and limited desktop entry observation. Observations: Oct 15, 2026. Conditions organized: October 15, 2026.
pelya's New Game and Generate reached a default map, and the plus control visibly zoomed it without registration or own files. Vehicle construction, keyboard, touch, multiplayer, saving and a full operating session remain unverified.
Source & instructions (opens in a new tab)Project type: Browser port
pelya's repository describes an OpenTTD webapp built with Emscripten from its Android-source branch 12. A generated map and zoom were observed; this is not an official Transport Tycoon Deluxe browser release or general-purpose emulator.
Classification organized October 15, 2026 from the recorded source and check notes; not a new gameplay test.
Compare classic browser portsBefore you open it
- This is pelya's specific webapp, not every OpenTTD web deployment or an official publisher version of Transport Tycoon Deluxe
- The default map loaded online resources without a visitor-supplied game archive; caching, offline use and transfer totals were not measured
- The maintainer describes a touch interface, but this check used desktop pointer controls and did not validate phone support
Getting started
- Open pelya's original openttd.html entry and allow its resources to load. Our menu appeared in Chinese; visible labels can depend on locale.
- Our route used New Game and Generate with the displayed 256 by 256 defaults and 1950 start. It did not import a scenario or saved game.
- The generated map responded to the plus zoom button. Read the source's instructions for construction and saving; those actions were not tested here.
What we checked
On October 15, 2026, pelya's linked webapp opened openttd.html and loaded online data; one loader observation showed 54,647,321 / 70,566,009 bytes. The menu appeared in Chinese. New Game opened generation settings showing 256 by 256 and a 1950 start; Generate reached a forest map with side toolbars. Clicking the plus zoom control enlarged the map view. No registration, payment or own-file upload was requested before that point. We did not build a route, buy a vehicle, import or export a save, join multiplayer, test touch input or complete an operating session.

The linked maintainer repository identifies an OpenTTD web application with a touch interface and documents an Emscripten build from the OpenTTD Android branch 12. That is source lineage, not an independently verified current version number or mobile compatibility result. OpenTTD is distinct from the proprietary original Transport Tycoon Deluxe. Our check does not transfer observations from another OpenTTD host.

Which OpenTTD (pelya) project?
This OpenTTD browser guide is specific to pelya's openttd-touch-webapp deployment on GitHub Pages. Its maintainer repository links the web application and describes its Emscripten build lineage. We followed that source to the runtime rather than assuming that another OpenTTD website has the same version, assets or controls. The default menu and generated map loaded, and a pointer click on the plus control visibly enlarged the map. Those observations establish a useful opening path, not a working transport business or a review of all OpenTTD features.
The guide and our desktop check are dated October 15, 2026. The maintainer's build notes refer to an Android-source branch 12; we did not establish an exact current deployment version from the scene and do not label it as the latest upstream release. The menu appeared in Chinese in our environment, so the English action names here describe the corresponding visible choices rather than a language setting we changed. The first publication date of this particular web build remains unestablished.

Game files
The runtime loaded online data before showing its menu. One progress screen displayed 54,647,321 out of 70,566,009 bytes; that is an observed loader value, not a measured completed network transfer, storage requirement or promise about future visits. We supplied no original Transport Tycoon Deluxe files, local archive, saved game or scenario. The generated default map therefore did not depend on a visitor-provided game folder in our check. It still used resources delivered over the internet. This directory does not host those resources, provide commercial game files or establish offline behavior from the absence of an upload prompt.
Controls
Pointer clicks on New Game and Generate produced a settings screen and then a game map. The displayed generation defaults were 256 by 256 with a 1950 start; we left them unchanged. Clicking the plus control on the left toolbar then made the forest terrain appear larger. That visible zoom response is the basis for the pointer-input category. It is not a test of track placement, station construction, vehicle orders, keyboard shortcuts or every toolbar icon. We did not change the language, remap keys, verify mouse-wheel zoom or use the interface on a touchscreen.
Account
No account registration, email, password or payment was requested before the generated map and zoom check. We did not sign into a service, follow donation links, enter multiplayer or connect a cloud-storage provider. The account label is limited to this default entry route. A browser-local game state is not necessarily an account, and its appearance does not prove it survives a restart. The directory's Save button only bookmarks this project and is unrelated to a transport-game save, an imported file or an external account. None of those persistence paths was tested.
Mobile gameplay
Not tested. The repository explicitly describes a touch-oriented web application, and the scene showed large side controls, but our check used a desktop pointer. We did not test a phone, simultaneous touches, a virtual keyboard, orientation changes or mobile file selection. A touch-focused design claim is different from a compatibility result on a particular device. Our small-screen checks only verify this directory page. We also did not establish a frame rate, battery impact, memory requirement or reliable browser-version matrix from a short look at a generated map.
Full session
A forest map appeared with side toolbars, a date display and company funds. The simulation's date advanced while we inspected the scene. We zoomed the map but built no route, purchased no vehicle and transported no cargo. No completed business objective, profitable network, scenario, multiplayer session or long-running performance result was established. Save import, export, reload and recovery after browser closure were not tried. The screenshot is an actual unbuilt map rather than a promotional transport network, so it supports the limited scene-and-zoom result without implying those later operations worked.
HTTP link check
A separate HTTPS request to pelya's exact openttd.html address returned HTTP 200 with zero redirects on October 15, 2026. The repository's shorter webapp link had led the browser to this runtime address; our stored project URL is the explicit runtime, not an assumed redirect chain. Certificate validation remained enabled. A healthy document response cannot establish every resource download, save operation or future visit. The browser check separately established a loaded menu and generated scene. If a later attempt stops while downloading data, distinguish that stage from failure to open the document or a missing local-file requirement.
Keep pelya's webapp separate from other OpenTTD builds
OpenTTD is its own open-source transport simulation and reimplementation lineage, not the original proprietary Transport Tycoon Deluxe delivered unchanged. This page identifies one maintainer's browser build, source link and successful default route. It does not transfer version labels, iOS claims, ratings, cloud-save promises or installation instructions from another hosting site. The public image records the generated terrain and toolbars we actually saw. Read the named maintainer's current documentation before adding data or relying on an untested feature. The source platform field identifies the PC-game lineage; it does not mean the browser is a general-purpose PC or DOS emulator, and it does not certify an Android or phone session.

OpenTTD (pelya) browser FAQ
Which OpenTTD browser build was checked?
pelya's openttd-touch-webapp at its explicit GitHub Pages openttd.html address. This guide does not describe every OpenTTD host or claim this is the latest upstream version.
Did the default start need my own game files?
No local game archive, original Transport Tycoon Deluxe folder or saved game was requested before the generated map. Online runtime data still loaded; we did not verify offline use.
Which actions actually responded?
New Game opened settings, Generate created a default 256 by 256 map, and the plus zoom control enlarged the view. Track building, vehicle orders and keyboard shortcuts were not tested.
Does the touch-interface description prove phone support?
No. The maintainer describes a touch interface, but our check used a desktop browser and pointer. Mobile gameplay and file handling remain unverified.
Were saves, multiplayer or a full transport session verified?
No. We stopped after generating and zooming an unbuilt map. Import, export, recovery, networking and transport operations were not tested.
