FIND A GAME / FILE REQUIREMENTS
Browser games without
extra game files at entry
The 16 projects below did not request user-supplied game data in our limited entry checks. Their sites still load assets over the internet. This is not a promise of full, free, offline or mobile gameplay.
Choose an entry path
For a small first action, 2048 responded to an arrow key and A Dark Room responded to light fire. These are opening observations, not completed games.
For racing, PolyTrack responded to brief keyboard input. HexGL loaded a scene, but driving was not verified. Neither check confirms touch controls.
For a guest entry, Lichess opened a computer board and TETR.IO opened Solo choices anonymously. Competitive and registered features can have different conditions.
Compare requirements
Entry observations| Project | Controls | Account at entry | Check limits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Surfd | Keyboard + mouse | Account requirements unknown | The solo Boreas scene loaded in desktop Chrome. Mouse capture failed in our automated check; full controls and a completed run were not verified. |
| QuakeWorld | Controls not confirmed | Account requirements unknown | The entry page opened in our earlier desktop Chrome check. We did not join a match. A later recheck returned a connection error in our environment; current availability is not confirmed. |
| PolyTrack | Keyboard controls | Account requirements unknown | Run game displayed the Summer 1 track and car. Holding the up arrow briefly advanced the race timer and speed to 56 km/h. We did not finish a race or test multiplayer and the editor. |
| 2048 | Keyboard controls | No sign-in in checked entry | Play Tutorial opened the board. An arrow-left input advanced the tutorial to Make a match and explained the moved tiles. We did not reach 2048 or test touch gestures. |
| A Dark Room | Pointer-based controls | No sign-in in checked entry | After dismissing the optional audio prompt, light fire changed A Dark Room to A Firelit Room, displayed the fire is burning and revealed stoke fire. Later exploration was not tested. |
| Gridland | Pointer-based controls | No sign-in in checked entry | The original site displayed three New Game slots. Selecting the first opened an eight-by-eight resource-tile board with hearts and a character. A full day/night cycle was not tested. |
| Orb.Farm | Pointer-based controls | No sign-in in checked entry | The four-page tutorial advanced with Next and Begin opened the ecosystem canvas and material controls. We did not verify long-running ecosystem balance or mobile drawing. |
| Little Alchemy 2 | Pointer-based controls | No sign-in in checked entry | Selecting play opened the workspace with the four starter elements, search, encyclopedia and a link to the project's hints site. Recipe generation and a full collection were not tested. |
| 0h h1 | Pointer-based controls | No sign-in in checked entry | Dismissing the opening title and selecting Free play displayed the tutorial grid and puzzle-size choices. We inspected the 4x4 entry; a completed puzzle and daily mode were not tested. |
| 0h n0 | Pointer-based controls | No sign-in in checked entry | The opening title led to the menu. Free play displayed a numbered 4x4 tutorial grid and size options from 4 to 9. We did not finish the puzzle or test daily challenges. |
| Minesweeper Online | Pointer-based controls | No sign-in in checked entry | After the server connected, Beginner opened a board without sign-in. We clicked a cell but did not verify a win, ranking submission or multiplayer. The connection took longer than the initial page load. |
| TETR.IO | Keyboard controls | No sign-in in checked entry | Leaving the username blank and joining created an anonymous guest session. Solo displayed 40 Lines, Blitz, Zen and Custom choices. We did not play a round, join matchmaking or create a registered account. |
| The Password Game | Text input | Account requirements unknown | Typing synthetic test text displayed rules for minimum length, numbers, uppercase letters, a special character and a digit sum of 25. No real password was used. The complete puzzle was not solved. |
| Lichess | Pointer-based controls | No sign-in in checked entry | Play against computer opened an anonymous Stockfish level 1 game. The board rendered and the computer made its opening c4 move. We did not complete a match or test rated play and account features. |
| HexGL | Keyboard controls | Account requirements unknown | The original Play link led to the launch menu. Start and Click/Touch to continue eventually rendered the craft, track, timer and lap HUD. We tried the up arrow briefly; a completed lap and mobile control were not verified. |
| Vines of Ore and Mercury | Keyboard controls | No sign-in in checked entry | In desktop Chrome on October 11, 2026, New Game opened difficulty choices. Easy loaded the Day 1 scene, and holding D moved the character and camera toward the planting area. No sign-in or user-supplied game files were requested. Farming, combat, saving and a complete session were not verified. |
Which projects need your files?
WebXash needs your own Half-Life or Counter-Strike data, and the Skate 3 fan project asks for converted files from your own copy. They are excluded from this comparison.
Diablo Web is a mixed case: its shareware demo downloads its own limited data, while full-game mode needs your MPQ. We keep it outside this list so demo access is not confused with a complete game.
QuakeWorld remains in the comparison because its earlier entry did not request files, but its later connection recheck failed in our environment. It is not a currently verified play recommendation.
