Basis: project instructions and limited desktop entry observation. Observations: Oct 14, 2026. Conditions organized: October 14, 2026.
Pointer clicks dropped fruit on the author's linked standalone board, without sign-in or user-supplied game files. The itch.io embed also opened. Merging, save recovery, keyboard, mobile play and a complete round remain unverified.
Source & instructions (opens in a new tab)Project type: Native browser game
DragoningFun publishes an HTML5 fruit-merging release and links its standalone Watermelon Garden browser site. This is not documented as a commercial-game port or console emulator.
Classification organized October 14, 2026 from the recorded source and check notes; not a new gameplay test.
Before you open it
- Use the original release or its author-linked standalone site; both load their own online assets
- A desktop pointer for aiming and releasing fruit; touch and keyboard play were not tested
- Treat saves on itch.io and the standalone site as separate, as the author specifies
Getting started
- Open the author's standalone site, or select Run game on the original itch.io release.
- Focus the board, aim with the pointer and release to drop a fruit. Let it settle before another drop.
- Read the original help before using Restart or relying on saved progress; our check did not test recovery.
What we checked
On October 14, 2026, Run game opened the itch.io embed and pointer clicks changed its next-fruit preview. The author-linked standalone site then rendered a full board; brief clicks dropped visible fruit that settled at the bottom. No account or user-supplied game data was requested. We did not verify a merge, a completed round, save recovery or mobile play.
Desktop browser · Oct 14, 2026
The itch.io entry lists the project as Released, HTML5 and no generative AI used; that last item is the author's disclosure, not an independent production audit. Its local-save and device claims remain source documentation. The embedded window was short in our check, while the linked standalone site showed the board more clearly.
Current instructions on the original project (opens in a new tab)Independent editorial pick; not attributed to Radiant Optimizer.
Which Watermelon Merge project?
This Watermelon Merge browser guide follows DragoningFun's original itch.io release and the standalone Watermelon Garden site linked from that release. The two destinations show the same fruit-merging concept, but they are different browser origins. We used both entries during the check and link the standalone site as the main play destination because its board was easier to inspect in our desktop window.
The source lists its itch.io publication as October 14, 2026 at 04:03 UTC. That is the release-page timestamp, not a verified first publication date for the standalone website. Our guide and limited control check are also dated October 14. This listing identifies the author and exact destination rather than recommending every game with a similar watermelon name.

DragoningFun's release and linked standalone site (opens in a new tab)Six conditions for Watermelon Merge in browser
Game files
Neither the itch.io launch nor the linked standalone board asked us to upload a ROM, a disc image or files from an owned commercial game. The sites loaded their own interface and fruit assets over the internet. This is the narrow reason the entry belongs in the no-user-supplied-files comparison; it does not mean the game has no asset downloads, works offline or can be copied from this directory. We do not host the game.
Controls
The author describes aiming with a pointer and clicking or releasing to drop fruit. In our desktop check, clicks changed the next-fruit preview and visible fruit fell into the standalone board and settled at the bottom. We did not confirm a matching-fruit merge or the game's upper fruit levels. The interface also lists keyboard actions, but we did not test them. Let a dropped fruit settle instead of interpreting every rapid click as a separately verified drop.
Account
The Watermelon Merge browser board opened and accepted the limited pointer input without a sign-in or payment step. The itch.io Follow and collection buttons are separate account features, not requirements we used to enter the game. The author presents the browser release as free; our observation only establishes the checked opening path. We did not audit every skin, later feature or external service for pricing, privacy or access requirements.
Mobile gameplay
The release describes tap input, and the standalone page has several interface languages. Those are author and interface claims, not a mobile session verified by Tab Game Guide. We used a desktop browser, did not test a phone, and did not measure touch targeting, orientation changes or sustained mobile performance. A responsive directory page is not proof that the external game works on every mobile browser.
Full session
We observed a small number of fruit drops, not a completed round. We did not make a watermelon, trigger a loss, test a restart after losing or verify the complete eleven-level progression. The screenshot records the observed board with dropped fruit, not a finished game or high-score result. This distinction is important for a physics game: a visible initial drop does not establish every collision, merge or long-running state.
HTTP link check
A separate HTTP request to the linked standalone play URL returned 200 on October 14, 2026, with no redirect. This checks that particular URL at that time, not every script or image it uses and not future availability. The browser observation separately confirmed a rendered board and brief input. If the board is blank later, use the author's help and inspect the current error rather than treating our past response as a permanent availability guarantee.
Keep the two save locations separate
The author says progress is stored in the current browser and does not sync between the itch.io embed and the standalone website. We did not test saving, restoring, exporting or transferring a round. Switching origins, profiles or devices should therefore not be treated as a tested recovery path. Read the original help before clearing site storage or using Restart; Tab Game Guide's bookmark button saves only this directory's project identifier, not your fruit board.
GOOD TO KNOW
Watermelon Merge browser FAQ
Which Watermelon Merge project does this page cover?
DragoningFun's original itch.io release and its linked standalone Watermelon Garden site at watermelonmerge.com. This page is not a directory of every similarly named fruit game.
Do I need to supply my own game files?
No user-supplied game files were requested in the checked entry. The original sites still load their own online assets; this directory hosts no game or game data.
Are the itch.io and standalone Watermelon Merge browser saves shared?
The author says the two locations do not sync their progress. We did not verify save creation, restoration or transfer between them.
Can I play on a phone?
The author describes tap input, but mobile gameplay was not tested here. Our confirmed input was a brief desktop pointer check.
Did the check complete a watermelon or a full round?
No. We confirmed visible fruit drops and a changing preview, not a merge, the highest fruit level, a win, a loss or a complete round.
