Basis: project instructions and limited desktop entry observation. Observations: Oct 15, 2026. Conditions organized: October 15, 2026.

The author page showed a play cover. Its exact frame opened separately accepted Play and X, reached a mountain scene and responded to Right without registration or own files. Grappling, saves, mobile input and completion remain unverified.

Project type: Native browser game

The authors publish Lani's Trek as a separate PICO-8 platformer with an HTML5 export and linked ExOK source. It is an original browser-available release, not a commercial Celeste port or general-purpose console emulator.

Classification organized October 15, 2026 from the recorded source and check notes; not a new gameplay test.

Before you open it

Getting started

  1. Open the official Maddy Makes Games release page and distinguish the game cover from optional downloads and community links.
  2. Our successful check used that page's exact game frame opened separately: click its play triangle, then use X at the Celeste 2 title.
  3. The opening ledge loaded and a short Right input moved the character. Consult the original controls for later actions; grappling and route completion were not tested.

What we checked

On October 15, 2026, the author page displayed the Lani's Trek play cover. We opened that page's exact game_drop iframe URL separately, clicked its play triangle and reached the Celeste 2 title. Holding X for 250 ms then reached an opening mountain scene. Holding Right for 250 ms moved the character along the starting snowy ledge. No account, payment or own files were requested through that path. Jumping, grappling, full traversal, saving, controller input, mobile play and completion were not verified.

The author page credits Maddy Thorson, Noel Berry and Lena Raine, with testing by Kevin Regamey, and links the ExOK source repository. It describes a three-day anniversary project. That description and a page update timestamp do not establish the original browser-publication date used by this directory.

Which Celeste Classic 2 project?

This Celeste Classic 2 browser guide identifies Lani's Trek, the PICO-8 follow-up published on Maddy Makes Games' own itch.io profile. The author page credits Maddy Thorson, Noel Berry and Lena Raine, with testing by Kevin Regamey, and links the ExOK source repository. It describes a three-day project for Celeste's third anniversary. We distinguish that author description from our direct check and do not interpret the title as a promised browser port of the later commercial Celeste game.

Our desktop check took place on October 15, 2026. The author page displayed a play cover; the successful start used its exact game frame opened separately. Clicking the play triangle, then using X at the title, led to an opening mountain scene. A short Right hold moved the character along the starting ledge. We did not complete a traversal route or test the other actions. The page's update timestamp is not used as an original release date, and this guide's publication date describes only our own documentation.

Six conditions for Celeste Classic 2 in browser

Game files

No cartridge upload, disc image, owned-game folder or other local file was requested before the observed opening movement. The author-published web export still loaded online resources; it is not a verified offline package or zero-download experience. The release page also lists optional Windows, Linux, macOS and Raspberry Pi downloads, but we did not download, install or run them. The browser observation does not establish their compatibility or necessity. This directory hosts none of those builds, the cartridge or game assets. The source link helps identify the release rather than functioning as a replacement download service.

Controls

The author page lists arrows, X and C. We first clicked the play triangle in the separately opened frame, observed the Celeste 2 title, then held X for 250 milliseconds. A subsequent observation showed the opening scene. Holding Right for another 250 milliseconds changed the character's position along the snowy starting ledge. That is the specific basis for a keyboard category. We did not test jumping, grappling, directional combinations, controller input, remapping or pause behavior in this sequel. The earlier Classic game's observed Return menu response is not transferred to Classic 2 as if it had been checked here.

Account

The recorded author-page and game-frame path reached movement without registration, email, password, payment or a local-file request. Follow, collection and comment actions on itch.io are separate from the checked launch. We did not use them or submit any information to those services. The account label applies to this observed entry, not every external link or possible future version. Tab Game Guide's own Save action stores a directory bookmark in the browser; it is not an itch.io login, a cloud save or a record of Lani's position. No persistent profile or account recovery was tested.

Mobile gameplay

Not tested. Our input was a desktop keyboard and pointer, not a touchscreen or controller. We did not establish touch bindings, multi-touch reliability, orientation behavior, mobile audio activation or performance on phone hardware. A browser export and a page that fits a narrow screen do not settle those questions. The external frame's visible controls also are not a substitute for using the game on a real mobile device. We do not present the separately opened frame as a universal phone fix or claim support across browsers based on a short desktop movement test.

Full session

We reached a mountain scene with snow-edged platforms, moving background clouds and the character on the initial ledge. The only confirmed traversal was a short movement to the right. We did not leave that opening area, clear an obstacle, verify a grapple, collect anything or finish a route. Saving, reset behavior, statistics, repeated loading and recovery after closing the browser were not tested. The image in this guide is the actual first scene after movement, not a finished-game screen. No time-to-complete, difficulty assessment, frame-rate benchmark or claim of full content verification follows from that observation.

HTTP link check

A separate HTTPS request to the author release page returned HTTP 200 with zero redirects on October 15, 2026. Certificate validation was enabled throughout. This result concerns the release document, while the title, scene and movement were observed through browser interaction with its game frame. A good page response cannot guarantee every hosted asset, another device, a future visit or save persistence. If the release page displays only its cover, distinguish that from a running title or an interactive scene. We did not diagnose a universal embed defect or establish why the original embedded attempt did not visibly progress.

The exact Lani's Trek release and check path

The inspected author page embedded https://html-classic.itch.zone/html/3276960/index.html. Opening that exact address separately allowed us to observe the play cover, title and opening scene without following an unrelated mirror. The author page remains the main project link because hosted asset paths may change. Its linked ExOK repository identifies the separate classic follow-up, while the optional downloads and soundtrack are different destinations that we did not test. We do not count the standalone frame as another game, use the first Classic game's screenshot for this sequel or infer feature compatibility from their shared PICO-8 platform. These are two separately documented projects with their own observed inputs and limits, not two copies of one directory entry.
